Hi, I am Tomomi, a Japanese quilter living in the lovely countryside of Co. Carlow, Ireland where I run Slaney Quilting Studio.
I create original quilts, both functional and art style. For me, the best thing about quilt making is the ability to express myself by designing the pattern, choosing particular fabrics and adding texture and decoration with quilting.
I have learned a very wide range of patchwork quilt making techniques over the years and won numerous prizes at the All Ireland Open Quilt Competition in the Tinahealy Show.
To share my extended knowledge of quilt making, my studio is open for classes and workshops which include a weekly ‘drop in’ class as well as seasonal short courses. I am also available to teach through Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board.
The studio is open by appointment to whoever needs quilt making supplies. I stock top quality quilting cotton fabric, Aurifil threads, Creative Grids rulers and other sewing essentials.
Commissions are always welcome. I have created memory quilts from loved one’s clothing and originally designed bed quilts as gifts.
I also offer a high quality, bespoke quilting service for your quilts.
My quilts are available to purchase online and through my studio.
